5/17/2013 Stephen Strasburg, P (Was) Strasburg pitched a career-high eight innings in his hometown Thursday night, leading the Washington Nationals to a 6-2 victory against San Diego.

Analysis: Strasburg's 54th big league start was his first professional appearance at Petco Park. The big right-hander went to high school in suburban Santee and pitched for Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn at San Diego State before the Nationals took him with the first overall pick in the 2009 amateur draft. He pitched twice at Petco Park for SDSU. The win was Strasburg's first since the season opener April 1.

Analysis: De Aza is hitting .364 against LHPs so use him in those spots.

Analysis: Chacin (3-3, 4.07 ERA) had a 2.70 ERA in his previous six starts. The loss was his third in as many games.

Analysis: Though Latos was strong again, it broke a string of four straight starts with winning decisions, however, he lowered his ERA to 2.91.
5/17/2013 Marco Scutaro, 2B (SF) Scutaro extended his hitting streak to 15 games by going 2 for 5 in an 8-6 win over Colorado on Thursday night.

Analysis: Scutaro, now batting .318, is 29 for 61 (.475) with eight extra-base hits and five RBIs during his run.
5/17/2013 Jean Segura, SS (Mil) Segura was 2 for 4 in Milwaukee's 7-1 loss to Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Analysis: Segura is 19 for 48 (.396) with six stolen bases over his last 11 games.
5/17/2013 Francisco Liriano, P (Pit) Liriano held the Brewers to a single run and six hits over 5 2-3 innings in Pittsburgh's 7-1 win Thursday.

Analysis: Liriano's stat line was nearly identical to the one he posted in his season debut. He's off to a good start for the Pirates as he's 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 11 innings.
5/17/2013 David Lough, RF (KC) The Kansas City Royals recalled Lough from Triple-A Omaha.

Analysis: Lough was hitting .340 with six doubles, three triple and three homers for the Storm Chasers, and was riding a 16-game hitting streak that ended May 8.
